This is quite a functional meat grinder. I was mostly satisfied with the functionality. However, this appears to be too labor intensive as the skin/food pieces are compacted and the blade simply slides OR vice versa and it is difficult for the blade to pick up pieces between the screen and the blade. Processing apples worked better than tomatoes (I followed all the instructions). But the BIGGEST problem is that after a few uses it started releasing a gray-black stuff into my food! And I read that it is actually metal filings from the mechanism. I cleaned etc. Didn't help. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. And if you had it, maybe it's the fact that you just didn't notice. It was a very light gray color and I noticed it with applesauce versus salsa. Unfortunately I no longer have time to return this for my money but I will call and try, this is unacceptable.
