I am building my own play kitchen. I've researched toy microwaves and this one seems to be the most realistic on the market. It lights up, has a working turntable and beeps when a cycle is complete. I think it's super cute! It contained plastic potatoes, pasta, pizza and chicken. Multiple stickers included. Runs on 3 AAA batteries, which are not included, and has a battery compartment that can be opened with a Phillips screwdriver. (+) A few minor cons: When I open the microwave door, I have to keep my other hand on the microwave. There is a silver knob with numbers that clicks when you turn it. I'm having a little trouble turning around, so the kids will probably struggle a bit. Again, holding the microwave with one hand can help. The platter is in two parts and feels a little wobbly. If a child (or a parent) steps on it, I think it will break easily. So if you buy this, make sure your child is of the appropriate age/maturity/development and be mindful of your toys.
