Review on Shifting Stones By Gamewright: A Tile-Based Family Strategy Game For Sharpening Visual And Tactical Decision-Making Skills by Kevin Kue

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fun, quick, engaging game - easy to learn.

Excellent, fun, puzzly game for 1 to 5 players. Easy to learn and teach. The game comes with a deck of cards and 9 nice thick cardboard double-sided "stone" tiles that are laid out randomly in a 3 by 3 grid. The stones have both colors and artwork. Each player receives 4 cards which have various tile arrangements pictured on them. On your turn, you can discard a card to switch two adjacent stones or to flip one stone to the other side (which has different color/art). Once the stones are arranged in a pattern shown on a card remaining in your hand, you can score that card. Point values for cards range from 1 to 5, depending on the elaborateness of the pattern shown. Once you have played as many cards you wish, you draw back up to 4 cards. Play continues until a player has scored a certain number of cards, depending on the player count. Then the round is finished so that everyone ends with the same number of turns. There is a 3 point bonus for the person who scores the most 1 point cards. Highest score wins! Excellent, quick game. Highly recommended.
