Installed on a 2012 Dodge Avenger. Direct replacement. The previous trunk release mechanism stopped opening the trunk. This is a fairly simple setup, but keep in mind that it can be tricky to match with the bottom hook. If misaligned, the trunk will not close or open. I had to climb into the trunk with a flashlight and just close it with bolts by hand. Then once inside I was able to line up the bottom latch/hook and tighten the whole thing. Then it opened and closed freely. Your mileage may vary. This isn't the fault of the new latch, however. The trunk opens again with the key fob.
