Review on Koni 8050 1014L STR T Front by Nate Mims

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The lack of installation instructions leaves a lot to be desired.

On OEM Gen 3 Integra GS luggage racks, an Allen wrench can be used to prevent the piston rod from rotating when loosening the top mounting nut. On these Konis, a 6mm open-end wrench is used at the top instead. The damper fork has a narrow i-shaped passage through which the "i-dimple" struts must slide. The location on these aftermarket racks is different than the OEM. Before installing the spring/coil on these racks. You must first mount the struts without them on the shock fork and through the engine bay mounts so you can estimate the approximate location of the top of the strut mount (using 2 x 14mm bolts). I also recommend rubbing LOTS of silicone grease under the strut mount so you can move the strut mount without having to fully compress the spring (thanks ETCG). Rack 8050 1014 really fits the G3 Acura Integra. Year of Update: I went further and replaced the rear wheels with Konis along with new BWR rear forearms and there was a noticeable improvement in ride quality and fuel economy. The front right strut also survived a curb crash and appears to be still working after a year.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not secure
