Installed this Bilstein 5100 on the back of my 2018 F-150 Super Crew a few days ago. There is a noticeable difference in truck driving that I felt immediately. The back of my truck has been what I can only describe as "jerky" since I bought it 2 months ago. The bumps weren't absorbed, and the rear end always felt like it wasn't laid on the bumps. With the Bilstein installed, the rear end now absorbs small bumps so I don't feel them, the wheels stay planted on medium bumps, and on big potholes and speed bumps the rear end still bounces off the ground (but not as much as before). ). uses k). I would definitely advise any new F-150 owner to jump straight into these and dump all the crap that came on the truck from the factory. When I removed the factory shocks, I checked them for compression and rebound. 5100r. There was some gas in the factory shocks, but not much. Also, the ride wasn't as smooth as the 5100. After pushing it a few times, I wasn't surprised why the rear end was so choppy from the factory. I can't comment on the durability of the 5100, but my first impression is that they are definitely worth the $150 investment. Installation took about 30 minutes. No need to lift the forklift, installation can be done with the forklift on the ground. A pair of metric wrenches, a torque wrench, a small pry bar and blue LocTite is all you need to replace 2 rear shocks. The torque spec for my truck was 66 feet per day. for upper and lower screws. The upper nut on the driver's side was a little odd. There was no room for a wrench. Instead, a large tab was welded on that would bang against the frame, preventing it from rotating when I loosened the bolt. Whatever works, I don't know why Ford chose it on any of the 4 nuts. UPDATE: Have been driving these two rear Bilsteins for about 3 weeks now. It seems to me that they "shrunk in" a little. Ride seems to be even better than when it was first installed. I'm almost sad that I don't have the money to replace the front shock absorbers because they feel like junk compared to the rear ones. Hitting isn't something I try to avoid anymore. I loaded them onto a truck I rented for 24 months and I think the $150 was well spent. UPDATE: These 5100s were easily moved to a 2019 F150. Driven it between two trucks for over 10,000 miles with no problems. Next time the lease changes I assume they will move again. Excellent investment!
