Review on Black Manfrotto 196AB-2 2-Section Single Articulated Arm - Camera Bracket Not Included by Jacob Sampino

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Smaller than you think but still a useful tool for low profile DSLR or pistol shooting.

Compared to traditional C-frames and gobo heads, it is smaller and lighter which can be its strength. The rods are thin-walled 1/2-inch metal tubing and the plastic spigots are 1.375-inch diameter, but they appear strong and durable within their capabilities. The pins on each end only extend when the bolt is removed from the steering knuckle. Each pin has a 1/4-20 threaded hole on one end. The locks hold up well and it works well for 7 inch monitors, microphones or small lights (1-2 pounds) but isn't strong enough to hold a heavy object. Its small size makes it useful in DSLR setups or in low light conditions. It's more reliable than the magic hand, so I'd recommend it as part of a lightweight kit for its utility, small size, and lightness.
