My 5 year old son was ready for a few slides as was his dad and older brothers. It's pretty cool. The design is great and the quality is good. My 5 year old says he loves that he has little toe cups inside. Notches for toes. He usually wears a size 11 so I went up a size. Glad I did because they fit him just right. I also have to mention that the texture feels a bit sticky, which makes the grip on the feet comfortable. My son has skinny legs and they don't fall off when he walks. I bought another pair for my nephew.
