Loud Loud Loud Loud in Performance Parts & Accessories

This was the first time I've owned or known anyone to have a cold air intake. I read about the owners on the forums, some like them, some don't. Installation was pretty easy. I'm fairly mechanical by nature and it took about an hour and a half to remove the standard mount and install the k&n mount. No cutting or drilling required. I was a bit scared at first about deleting so much material, but once I got used to it, it wasn't difficult. Make sure you save the instructions and all the details in case you want to reinstall the default system. After installing everything, I tried it out. The first thing I noticed was the sucking sound it made as it sucked in all the air. Standard systems are designed to keep your engine as quiet as possible. Cold air intakes are designed to be as unstable as possible. So of course there will be more noise. As soon as I started there was a nice deep throaty sound. It was nice knowing people could hear my truck driving by. I didn't really notice a big difference in performance. I've only used it during the day so can't speak to fuel economy but from what people are saying it increases your mileage. fence about saving it. The noise when driving on the highway is very audible. I'll probably leave this on for a few weeks to see if my mileage improves. If not, then I'll probably put the old intake back on. For me, the extra power (which I don't feel) doesn't make up for the noise.
