I bought this kayak carrier to carry two individual kayaks for about two and a half hours on a hike to a place called Jenny Springs. The quality of the product was spotty at best, rust showing up on the holders as soon as I took them out of the box. It took about 30 minutes to assemble the holders mainly due to the number of screws and parts required to assemble. The locking mechanisms that hold the kayak holders on the roof rack are decent; They tighten just enough to hold it on the roof, but there's no way to keep them tight enough on their own - I wish they had a better tensioning mechanism. However, when I attached the ratchet straps to the machine and tightened them, they ended up where the Kaya's frames stopped moving. Overall it served its purpose over the weekend, but I'll be making some changes to make it last a bit longer. If these mods don't work, I'll probably buy another, higher quality one.
