A little wobbly but so far so good

I was a bit concerned after installing them and saw that they wobbled on the crossbars once fully tightened but they moved a few different kayaks Perfect. at speeds of up to 75 km/h. When the kayaks are tied to the racks there seems to be almost no movement. They seem pretty small for some of the wider kayaks or paddle boards, but hold up great with the right straps. The straps provided are NOT long enough to properly secure a 29" or larger kayak, so make sure you have spare straps. I have a…

Build Challenge: Trunk and Brackets

How many ways are there of misassembling something? Well, apparently quite a lot. By the 4th we figured it all out, but do yourself a favor and REALLY read the instructions, follow them carefully. Collect a J-Bar end-to-end instead of assembly line in case you get off track. We had to disassemble two to correct a mistake made early in the process. But when they're together, they're easy to put on and take off the rack, and they're very durable. We have a Toyota 4Runner with very flat bars and…

Medium Kayak Carrier

I bought this kayak carrier to carry two individual kayaks for about two and a half hours on a hike to a place called Jenny Springs. The quality of the product was spotty at best, rust showing up on the holders as soon as I took them out of the box. It took about 30 minutes to assemble the holders mainly due to the number of screws and parts required to assemble. The locking mechanisms that hold the kayak holders on the roof rack are decent; They tighten just enough to hold it on the roof, but…

cheap stand suitable for accessories

The stand is strong enough and fairly easy to install. Three reasons for a 3 star rating and why I probably won't buy it again. First, the lower brace that fits under the crossbar has a deep V shape as if made for a few inches round bar. The factory-installed crossbar is wide and flat, and the V-shape doesn't touch. So I had to flip the bottom bracket to make contact, but now all the pressure is on the top of the inverted V, which isn't as stable as I'd like. Second, ratchet straps are useless.

Outstanding customer service

We bought this kayak stand to transport 2 8ft kayaks over 250 miles. We mounted and installed J-Racks on our SUV. So far everything has been going well. Our trip will take place over the next two weeks and we will update the review when it is complete. However, I wanted to make an extra effort to complement the customer service we received. The shelves arrived with a card that gave us a phone number to use if we had questions. We had questions about ratchet straps. I called the number provided…

Beautiful, durable and inexpensive - what else do you need to know?

I bought a double set of AA Products KX325 J-Bar Racks for two (2) 10 foot kayaks. I also ordered an APX25 ladder post from AA (universal, no drilling) to mount these J-Rods. I decided to mount my rack on my utility trailer and put J-Rods on top. Unfortunately, when I assembled my stand and tried to attack the J-Bars, the bracket didn't fit the APX25's wide crossbars. I just assumed that if I ordered two products from the same company at the same time, they would be compatible. I also haven't…
