It really doesn't work if the top rug isn't heavy enough

I have a 4 1/2' x 7' mat that slides like crazy on the carpet. I sit and/or stand on it all day at an adjustable table. I bought this product to solve this problem. Instead of fixing the carpet every hour, I now fix it three or four times a day. Not that bad, but certainly not a solution to the problem. The main problem with this product is that the sticky part is just too thin, too light and not sticky enough. This will probably work better with heavier carpets, but will require a heavier and stronger adhesive layer. Even if the instructions are ok, I think there is a better approach. If I had to do it all over again I would turn the rug upside down, place the adhesive backing on the rug and cut it off with scissors. Then I folded and unfolded the rug in the opposite direction to get the first placement. If you follow the instructions, you will notice that the rug shifts abruptly and use scissors to cut off the excess. You also need to be careful, otherwise you will cut the carpet with scissors. This is a very cumbersome setup. A much better solution would be to buy a wide piece of rubber and tape the rug to the rubber unless the rug is very valuable. It's really not a great product, although it helps a bit. My advice is to give it up and look for a heavier rug.
