Excessive discoloration on a dark background

I bought to replace my home and aging Asus PB278Q. I use it for web development and use dark backgrounds in my text editor and in terminal windows. The color change is harsh and distracting, the main focal point looks fine but everything else is very washed out. This means that when reading against a dark background, your eyes will always get used to different black levels. The background will be dark/black in one part of the monitor and grey/white in the other! This is because the monitor is equipped with a VA panel. I replaced it with a BenQ PD3200U with IPS and am very happy with it. On the plus side: - the design of the monitor is nice; Narrow bezel and stylish stand - joystick works great for OSD navigation

Pros
  • Its slim bezel makes it stylish and modern.
Cons
  • Bad built-in speakers.
