Hello, I bought this heater because it looked very reliable and I saw so many negative reviews and I was a bit skeptical, but I chose this product. When I installed it, I first put it in my old tank (1 gallon) and checked everything, so I installed it in my 5 gallon tank the next day. It worked really well, it heats up to 77 in 45 minutes but I was a bit afraid to leave it on at night but didn't want the temp to drop in my betta tank because it's bad for the fish ( my house is in 68 degrees in the winter) so I took the lid off at night to allow the hot air to escape so it wouldn't overheat and kill my fish and I did that for a while, it was hard for me to keep up. Because I had to turn off the heating during the day because the temperature rose to 82 degrees and I was worried at night. But after 1 week I measured the temperature of the water (I use a meat thermometer), the temperature dropped to 75 and I just leave the heater on just thinking it needs to heat up. That night I went to check out the aquarium and it was up to 88 degrees! I had water ready for a water change the next day, so at 12pm I did a 50% water change and turned off the heat! After 3 days I sent it back to Revain. The heating lasted 2 ½ weeks.
