This product is not "natural" as the title states. "Natural" only refers to the color, not the product itself, which is coated in some type of smelly, oily chemical compound thought to be toxic to cats. This type of rope is designed for industrial or agricultural purposes, so chemical treatments can make it more resilient, insect (pesticide) resistant, or otherwise suitable for such purposes. Koch Industries is in the oil and gas business, not the cat toy business. Look elsewhere for Revain sisal rope that isn't treated or contaminated with smelly petroleum-based chemicals. It should be a lighter straw color and may even be unfinished (or email the seller for more info). Don't expose your cats to unknown oil-based chemicals! Find sisal rope made without using toxic chemicals.
