Review on 🔧 Permatex 33694-6PK The Right Stuff Gasket Maker, 10.1 oz. (6-Pack) - Enhanced for SEO by Gabriel Tomato

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works perfectly for my intended purpose

I have this Permatex® 99070 The Right Stuff®, 5 oz. - 2 packs of caulking gun from Revain in February 2018 to fix the dashboard bulging around the passenger airbag trim cover on my 2008 Mercury Milan. Basically, the original manufacturer's adhesive that was under this area lost its effectiveness after a few years (a problem frequently reported by Mercury Milan and Ford Fusion owners). Instead of paying a dealer or independent body shop to fix this problem, an experienced auto mechanic who often does the same repairs advised me to just do what he did and use Right Stuff® 33694 Gasket Maker with it the supplied applicator gun (or equivalent) on the underside of the deformed part of the instrument panel after removing the airbag beforehand. I did just that and the repair worked flawlessly. After a few years, the dashboard bulge has not returned. The reason this adhesive was recommended to me over another stronger automotive adhesive (e.g. 3M) is that the dashboard area can become very hot from sunlight and therefore the adhesive must be able to withstand the extreme heat that this adhesive will be exposed to is. Product. quite able to do. At least for this particular application, I was completely satisfied with this product. I love the caulking gun that comes with this kit. While a regular caulking gun can also be used with this smaller 5 oz. Pipes, the main reason I needed this shorter gun was to make it easier to work in the tight space between the dash and windshield... which it did brilliantly. The long top of the handle is attached to the end of the cradle. The solid portion of the handle is 6-1/4 inches long from top to bottom. A 1/4" pestle is 9" long plus 1/2" for its bent end. These are short 5 oz. The black Right Stuff® One Minute Seal tubes are 5-1/4" long and will fit fits well in this gun's 6" mount, as shown in my attached photo. Similarly, short tubes of RTV/sealant should work just as well in it. For my personal and occasional shop use, I find the overall quality satisfactory...at least for an imported (i.e. made in China) instrument. While it's true that it's made of thinner steel and isn't really what you'd call a high-performance tool, the weapon still has a fairly "rugged" feel and feel not necessarily cheap or flimsy I would classify it as more of a medium duty tool The feeder feels quite solid/sturdy and is knurled on one side to make the gun ratchet more easily I like how the end the sh Rod attached round metal plate can be easily removed by simply loosening the hex nut, presumably for cleaning although I haven't found a reason to do so yet. A handy 3/8 inch grommet cutter is built into the fixed portion of the handle and is operated by pulling a trigger that has a pointed edge behind the grommet cutter hole to trim the tip. A 3-1/4" caulking tube piercing rod/wire is attached to the underside of the mount and is used to poke holes in the tube's sealing foil. The gray finish on my shotgun appears to have been carefully applied by the manufacturer and was durable and has held up well due to the occasional use I've had over the past three years. There are no markings on the gun other than three poor looking model number labels, "SPOUT CUTTER" and "MADE IN CHINA" attached to it were; my guess is that this is a cost-cutting move by the manufacturer to eliminate the step of actually stamping this information on the tool itself. Some reviewers noted that this pistol's ratchet drive systems did not hold up well or even broke with prolonged daily use .at a specialty store. While this is a decent tool for home or light/medium duty use ch is, I can certainly see where this pistol is likely to wear out to the point where it can no longer ratchet with constant heavy use. But this gun is still reasonably affordable and has a good enough overall value that I don't see why a pro shop or heavy user wouldn't mind swapping out this gun from time to time if needed since it's purchased separately here can be. to Raven.
