First, it is carbon. And who doesn't love carbon fiber! Second, it is very convenient to hold and take off. I've used it with my Hero 5 on many adventures. The aluminum tips and clip are great and have a much better feel than the standard plastic found on most GoPro accessories. And it looks even better live. The only downside is that it doesn't float very high out of the water. So if you're going rafting or surfing with this grip, I highly recommend adding a float or case to your GoPro. Otherwise he is perfect.
