With 200,000 miles on the odometer it's time for new brakes. The rotors aren't very worn so I just replaced the new pads. I've had them in my truck for a few days now and they're pretty impressive. Under normal driving conditions they behave the same as stock pads and grip very well under heavy braking. Haven't towed anything yet, but I bet this is where these pads will really shine. I also have Red Hawk Pads on my Z06 Corvette and have noticed something in the way they respond to the truck. The initial "bite" when you hit the pedal (normal driving) is almost identical to the stock pads; not delicate, but not soft either. Then, if you keep the brake pedal steady, the pads will start to stop better. Braking performance behaves like you're pushing the pedal a little harder when decelerating, but that's the effect of increasing the stopping power of the brake pads, not pedal travel. It's not embarrassing or annoying at all. This is more noticeable in a 3000 lb car than in a 6000 lb truck, but it occurs in both vehicles. It should also be noted that I slammed on the brakes quite hard in the truck just to try out the new pads and actually locked the right front wheel for a short time. . The ABS worked pretty quickly and stopped the shenanigans, but I was impressed that these new pads could grip so well. My truck has 305/70R16 (32x12.5) tires so there are a lot of contact points! So considering the money and the results I have to say I am very happy with these pads on my truck so far. Will try to update the rating after pulling something heavy enough to judge their performance there. I've heard that they really shine in this situation (forums etc) but I want to make sure before I write this in a review.
