Very beautiful and elegant. As many other reviews have said, these items are very delicate and fragile. They can be used to store items, but I wouldn't recommend putting anything heavy in these boxes or carrying the boxes by the handles. They are beautiful to look at and very carefully detailed despite their fragility. I intend to use them for storing greeting cards and other small, lightweight souvenirs. As mentioned in another review, these boxes have a very strange smell. It's not very strong but is definitely present on my skin after using them. I hope that after a little airing, the smell will go away. The smaller box was sent in the larger one and was well protected - it arrived undamaged. However, the large box was unpacked when shipped, resulting in part of the trim and one of the hinges breaking off. Both issues can easily be fixed with super glue so I'm not overly concerned and will not be returning any items. However, this is somewhat disappointing.
