Using it is simple - insert the probe into the food and check the readings. There are two displays - one is the desired temperature, the other is the actual temperature. When the actual temperature reaches or exceeds the desired temperature, the device will beep to let you know. Very convenient. To use this you need to set the switch to the "ON" position. Then you can take your measurements. Since the device is completely off, always start with the temperature in metric Celsius. Switching to Fahrenheit is easy enough, but it's a bit of a hassle. All in all, this little thermometer is a useful tool in the kitchen.
