This is a great microphone

No confusion here. It is advertised as a microphone for external applications. Those one star reviews are ridiculous. I connected the microphone, registered it on the computer and you set it as the default microphone. Nothing complicated. We use it as a room mic for conference calls and it picks up voices very well. Excellent purchase
