I used to buy this in white but lost it last year. I have decided on a new one in purple, it is very beautiful and convincing. If you don't like the distance, you can use pliers to expand and bend the "D" shaped ring to better fit your nose. If you choose to do this, the gap may be too small and you may have to pinch and feel pain to insert/remove it, but once on it it just dangles and it doesn't hurt. The purple color doesn't vibrate too much. It looks more like a shimmering opal with a purple hue. If you want something more eye-catching, blue or pink might work for you. Otherwise, purple and white are a good color to go with any makeup color.
