Review on Alen 75i Air Purifier - Powerful and Silent Air Flow for Extra-Large Rooms up to 1300 SqFt - Effective Allergen, Dust, Mold, Pet Odor, and Smoke Cleaner with Extended Filter Lifespan by Ashley Romero

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great with marijuana smoke! (plus many other things)

Why I took a star off my review I'll know in a minute (see my update below, back to 5 stars). All I know is this thing is amazing! I wouldn't call it great, but it's worth every penny. We have 4 dogs in a one story open plan design of approximately 1250 square feet. Immediately after switching it on, I noticed a huge improvement in air quality within a short time! The auto function works surprisingly well. It sits there with the lowest fan speed and successfully cleans the air all day/night. A small blue circle shows you that your air is currently at its cleanest. I light the joint about 20 feet from the air purifier and after about a minute I notice the fan speed ramping up to the limit! (It's still very quiet though, but even at max power it's not audible when the TV is on) Red indicator! Then purple! He immediately tells me that my air is polluted and he is working to fix the problem. Within 20 or 30 minutes the whole house is completely smoke and odor free! This is perfect for any wealthy drug addict like me. You make good money, you have good stuff, you're already grown up! You don't want other adults coming into your house with marijuana on them. Especially to all your friends with children. Or maybe you have children? What example do you give!? Opening the windows on a nice day is of little use. And if you have cold winters and you can't open the windows, what then? You buy that thing, fool. All these problems will be solved. I deducted a star because my wife is forcing me to return it. She doesn't like how it looks. I do not think it's bad. That's the paradox of a great air purifier: to work well it has to be outdoors, but to be outdoors it can't look stupid. There are many air purifiers out there that I have skipped just for the looks. I doubted that, the choice of panel color helped convince me. I will add a photo to this review. If you agree with me and think it doesn't look that terrible, leave me a comment! Or, if you're wrong and agree with my wife's decision to return it, please don't let me know. In any case, you can turn off the panel backlight by pressing the big colorful button in the center while you work. This is obviously good if you use this in the bedroom. It would be nice if you could toggle the panel backlight on and off without turning off the entire device. Seems like an unnecessary power cycle just to adjust the light. But hey, it's guaranteed for life, so what difference does it make if it breaks due to excessive duty cycles! Long story - I would have a hard time replacing this with anything else, especially with how well it works. The bar is REALLY high for cleaning the air in my home after only owning this thing for a few days. I'm addicted to fresh air. I work from home and spend a lot of time here. That's very pleasant. I'm going to back away from all of this review and say this is the first air purifier I've ever owned. Maybe they are fine? Most big players have good reviews. I think it comes down to aesthetics when you're spending that much. We don't have a lot of space in our house so this thing needs to be right outside for everyone to wonder and ask what it is. He has to look good. I admit it's not the sexiest. Unfortunately, this time function loses form over form in this battle for form rather than function. PS - what lunatic thought purple was the right color to indicate your air quality is declining!? Why does red indicate the second worst air quality? Is there a standardized color rating system for air pollution that I just don't know about? ****Update in 2 weeks, back to 5 star rating**** Ok we tried replacing this unit with another more aesthetic cleaner. We tried the Coway AirMega 400. It looks great, occupies the same footprint and performs even better than this Alen 75i device. But it just didn't work. It was also MUCH louder. When this Alen 75i unit was in the same position as the Coway AirMega, the air was noticeably cleaner and odor free. Also, 75i is barely audible at maximum volume with the TV on. The Coway AirMega was at least 4 or 5 times louder at maximum volume. To the point where you didn't want to run it at the highest level when you were away from home. We have tried this device in various places in the house. , some of the places it didn't work too, and now in a new place (different from the photos I posted) and it's really awesome! My wife isn't thrilled with the spot we ended up on but it works really well and isn't as bad as she once thought. It seems that function triumphed over form in the end!
