That's exactly what I need for my aquarium! It is a very fine grain and very black with some natural sheen. 20 pounds gave me just over an inch of coverage in my 20 gallon tank. It really turns me on artificial plants and under the blue LED my GFP axolotl will look amazing! Fair warning, if you're using it as an aquarium substrate, be sure to rinse that sand out at least 3 times! I ordered 20 pounds of this substrate for my axolotl aquarium and rinsed it in a 5 gallon bucket until the water ran clear. I let it sit and then rinsed again. I then put it in my aquarium and after 48 hours I'm still waiting for the dust to settle/filter out of the water column. Sand is usually "dusty", but this stuff definitely needs a little extra washing before it can be used in water (but it's not sold as aquarium sand, and once washed clean it's perfect, so I mix it not with water). . stars) TLDR: excellent value for money, nice dark color with a slight sheen, washable many times in aquariums.
