Not suitable for Beetles

Nice but sticky on my Beetles! They're *blue* bugs faking death and you can't even tell what they're doing. I have to wash my feet with it regularly because it's very sticky and seems to really irritate them. I'll switch to playground sand.

Tiny sharp shards that may shatter on skin

I liked the color but not the typical sand, smooth and uniform in size. It was more like rough little stones, and it had small splinters in it that looked like wood shavings. I used it for art and these shards pierced my skin. I had to be very, very careful to pull them out with tweezers so they didn't break off under the skin. I had to sift out large chunks for consistency. Also, because of the tiny shards, I didn't dare use it where my kids could get hold of it. I ended up throwing most of it

FOR AQUARIUMS: WASH, WASH AND WASH AGAIN!

That's exactly what I need for my aquarium! It is a very fine grain and very black with some natural sheen. 20 pounds gave me just over an inch of coverage in my 20 gallon tank. It really turns me on artificial plants and under the blue LED my GFP axolotl will look amazing! Fair warning, if you're using it as an aquarium substrate, be sure to rinse that sand out at least 3 times! I ordered 20 pounds of this substrate for my axolotl aquarium and rinsed it in a 5 gallon bucket until the water ran

He is very, very black!

I don't know what I expected from black sand, but this sand is incredibly black. I mixed it with coir and even though it was equal parts coir and sand, it's all black now. When sand is wet it can spread black paint (sand, not individual dyes), which is why some of the inhabitants of my terrarium have black sand. are more noticeable and the cell generally looks less dirty. The black background makes it very easy to spot moving critters and seems to help capture some of the light entering the…
