He is very, very black!

I don't know what I expected from black sand, but this sand is incredibly black. I mixed it with coir and even though it was equal parts coir and sand, it's all black now. When sand is wet it can spread black paint (sand, not individual dyes), which is why some of the inhabitants of my terrarium have black sand. are more noticeable and the cell generally looks less dirty. The black background makes it very easy to spot moving critters and seems to help capture some of the light entering the cage from the heat lamp. There were no clumps of non-sandy material in the sand, and when it gets wet it turns into malleable sand, not wet mud. I also bought 2 bags of this sand and both were of the same quality. * This sand is used for the hermit crab terrarium. It mixes with the coir substrate and stays moist until replaced. It's also under the heat lamp most of the time. I will update if there are any significant changes.
