Review on 💨 Enhance Your Cooling Efficiency with SilverStone PWM Fan Hub System Cables (CPF04) – Black by Michael Hall

Update: not working. (Solution found! No solution found, but if your hub doesn't work, read below)

This hub does not control fan speed. It has a cable with a 4-pin header attached that needs to be connected to the 4-pin fan header on the motherboard. I have tried connecting it to both 4 pin headers on my MOBO and in both cases the fans are all running at full speed. Changing the MOBO BIOS settings has no effect. I can't make the fans run faster or slower, they all run at the maximum speed stated by the manufacturer. To prove it's a hub, I tried connecting the fans individually to the MOBO and was able to successfully control their speed. .This is very disappointing because now my computer sounds like a jet engine all the time. Edit: I found the answer on Tom's Hardware, thanks to user Paperdoc. I didn't realize it, but the SilverStone Hub only has 2 wires connected to its 4 pin connector. These are the Speed Pulse and PWM cables to allow the motherboard to detect the fan speed. My motherboard (MSI 970a Gaming Pro Carbon) has 4 fan headers (plus the CPU). Two of them are 4-pin and two are 3-pin. It turns out that all four fan headers use voltage control. I assumed the 4-pin header would be PWM, but that's not necessarily the case, even on high-end MOBOs. The only PWM header is the CPU fan, which explains why some users can only get this or similar hubs to work when connected to the CPU_Fan header. This also explains why my fans worked individually connected to the motherboard, without a hub. I'm leaving it one star even though it's the motherboard's fault because this is probably a very common problem that could have been avoided by integrating the 12V and ground wires into the 4-pin hub connector. The pictures don't show the 4 pin connector so you can't see that there are only two wires. This problem is not mentioned either in the description or on the packaging. And when I contacted Revain they referred me to SilverStone who never replied.
