Awesome little lightbox!

I have a $300 lightweight desk for professional use, but I was looking for something slim to take on the go. First off, I'm a professional artist, so I learned how to draw in low light and how to use a light table long before college, and graduated a long time ago. In low or natural light, this table allows you to easily see your lines and easily trace them before drawing. It is convenient that there are guides (in centimeters). Of course, in artificial light, it's a bit more difficult to see your lines, but you can check that your drawing is correct, like this. This is how I use my $300 light table and this light pad is very good even if you are used to a more complex device. It's as thin as a clipboard and with the addition of a small clip it's perfect for this purpose. You can of course use tape to hold the paper in place, but I've found a regular paper clip works just fine. Since it doesn't get hot, I can even set it to the lowest setting and take little notes with it when they come to my bedside. It's not portable, but since it has a USB port, I can easily plug it into a portable power source so I can use it on the go. I hope this helps any artist like me who wanted something small to help them with character designs or comics. You can also transfer the sketch to the final work on something as thick as Bristol, or draw cardboard on paper that doesn't bleed. If you have a lot of trouble, there is marker paper which is very thin and alcohol markers like Prisma or Copic won't bleed through to do your final work when drawing on a thick drawing. Some other complaints I've read: I wouldn't advise chasing something printed on a 2-page magazine. Just scan it, run a filter to find the outlines and print it out and you can trace it.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Incredible piggy bank
