Review on High-Quality DB Electrical SDR0253 Starter for Clark CGC Forklifts 2002-2003 - 3660566-3, 3857747, 6792N Compatible/Replacement by Don Kishore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Why pay hundreds more for the same part? Or pay 4 times more for the name on the box?

05 Crownline 180br 4.3L Mercruiser Alpha Outdrive This DB electric starter costs a quarter of a Mercruiser replacement! And half the price of the Sierra it replaces! Same marine certifications, more torque than a standard starter but a lot less than others? The installation almost killed me and probably took my life! 6ft 4in tall and 200lbs trying to fit in a 2ft space and the job causing a hole a house cat couldn't fit is a nightmare! I will never do that again! Couldn't even if I wanted to because most of my tools (sockets, both extensions, ratchet, maybe 2 of them, plus crescent wrench, 2-way locking pliers) are all in the bottom of my boat! Fishing for tools while my wife lays in the sun for the rest of the summer! As for the quality and durability of the starter? The offshore starter is only 2 months old and I can't even hear him turning the flywheel a better mechanic than I thought or half a day of friggin' installation really sealed my fate for the ages! I've had one over 5 years ago installed another DB Electrical starter in my wife's Subaru. And we've never had a problem with it!

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
