Colorado residents can only install license plate covers on license plates that are completely transparent (among other things, do not obstruct your view and are not read by the system). I bought this tinted version and quickly found that tinted ones can get you pulled over for violating Colorado Revised Statute Section 42 Motor Vehicles and Traffic § 42-3-202(2)(b) "Person must not drive a motor vehicle c [. ] a cover that distorts the view from angles, changes the color of the license plate, or is so carbonized, tinted, scratched, or soiled that the license plate is difficult to read.” I have another version of this that is clear and works well. Based on other reviews it looks like some others in other states have had problems. Maybe that's too much, but if the seller is aware of state laws that prohibit tinting, they can reduce the number of negative reviews about the product by placing them in the product description. People are generally not happy to find out after getting a speeding ticket.
