My wife and I consider ourselves espresso lovers. After using a manual espresso machine for a long time, we decided to invest and buy a Brera after seeing many positive reviews. The coffee machine worked great for 7 months and made good espresso. It has been serviced according to the manufacturer's instructions, with the detachable parts being rinsed frequently and descaled every 2 months. We used low-fat Lavazza Gran Espresso and Super Crema coffee beans. A week ago the coffee grinder broke down, made a loud noise and suddenly stopped. I contacted Gaggia tech support and they told me to follow Whole Latte Love's YouTube video instructions to clean the grinder. I was skeptical as the video said some of the procedures shown would void the manufacturer's warranty. I contacted Importika, Revain's official technical support, and they suggested the same thing. However, cleaning the coffee grinder did not solve the problem. The second time I contacted Importica, I spoke to a very polite representative and was offered two options: 1. Buy a replacement coffee grinder (for about $70), send it to me and replace it yourself2. Pay for shipping costs (round-trip) and send unit to Rochester, NY for inspection and repair. I am very concerned that I will have to spend more money to have a strictly used unit repaired under warranty. Conclusion: Great coffee maker, although it works, but the warranty terms are unacceptable.
