I was looking for a replacement for an old snap online tester that I had owned for years and it worked perfectly. It was easy to use and easy to use. Just mount it to something grounded and you'll always be able to find the power line easily. That's really all I need, but when I saw this I thought it would be great to get a replacement that can do other things as well. Little did I realize that this would require accessing the battery for all the tests I needed. On first use I had to trace some lines on the taillights. I couldn't get to the taillight wires when two wires needed to be connected to the battery just to check the wiring harness for power. I need to build something to be able to extend the cable to get to the battery and run it all the way just to check the wires that get power. It's great that this tester tests continuity on both the positive and negative leads, but the need to connect a battery really gets in the way. As for me, sticking with the tried and tested simplicity of a basic line tester, and something more, I pull out a multimeter.
