Review on Heininger Hitchmate TireStep 4040, Black – 1 Pack by Paul Lewis

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A great way to load bulky items onto a roof rack

This is exactly what I was looking for. It took me one step to load a tandem kayak onto my Subaru Crosstrek. The incline is adjustable for both tire width and required incline height. The width is just right for the wheel hole on the Crosstrek, just be careful not to scratch the plastic padding around the wheel. The step is solid but not too heavy. It's a good thing that the set comes with a case in which you can store the step when not in use. The housing dimensions are dimensioned in such a way that the step fits into the housing even in the highest position without dismantling. It folds down to about 3-4 inches so it doesn't take up much space in the trunk. For $35 it's worth it. I got one from the Revain store for about $7 less and it was like new.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • It's ok
