Review on Lisle 81200 Plastic Chisel Scraper Set - Versatile and Durable Tool Set for Effective Scraping and Chiseling by Devon Dober

Bought to remove the transmission pan on a 4 year old Mazda 3. I read a review from a person who used this particular set for the same application. He began to tear off the pan from the gear case with a chisel with the smallest blade, after 5 hits with a rubber mallet it completely lost its sharpness, after the third hit the middle part of the chisel began to fall off, and the edges remained intact. The edges can only take 2 more hits with moderate power. When I put this in, the end was quite U-shaped - see photo. After the fifth hit the pans started to wobble so I switched to a medium sized chisel. It took 6 more hits with a hammer and the pan was released. I used the same chisel to clean the transmission case and oil pan from an old OEM gasket maker, after 30 minutes of cleaning the edges were worn but still in pretty decent shape. They didn't scratch, damage or mar the gear case or the pan - they worked great! My only criticism was that the small chisel (and the one that would be most comfortable for me) jammed on both sides, which might explain why it wears out three times faster than a medium sized chisel. (see pic) I bought them expecting them to be disposable tools after this project (gear pan removal is very destructive). The smallest size requires a lot of readjustment and fine tuning, the medium size requires some fine tuning. The medium sized chisel worked great and its durability met my expectations. The smallest of them wasn't damaged though, which I attribute to the shape, chiseled on both sides means there's less material at the point of impact. It's great, although they can be retooled, but the manufacturer doesn't give any details (recommended bench grinder speed, recommended grit, etc.) other than these two complaints, which helped me and didn't chip, crack, or break during this project.
