Review on Enhanced Performance with KIPA Air Strike 35mm Carburetor for PWK35 KAWASAKI KDX200 Banshee YFZ350 by Brandon Barrett

Good for Kawasaki KDX 200

I have two Kawasaki KDX 200; power valveless, air-cooled in 1984 and liquid-cooled in 1991. Based on a 1991 KDX 200 review, I bought two of these carburetors, one of which was installed immediately for 1991 to replace a worn 35mm Keihin PWK carburetor. The stock carburetor has a worn inlet needle valve seat and any valve replacement will not stop the leak. Thus, the carburetor could not be reset. 1991 KDX200: I installed this replacement carburetor, initially no modification or jetting adjustments, just installed. The bike started right up (!) and only a small adjustment worked while idling. No leaks, no changes. Hallelujah! wow even. Later, after a bit of driving, I installed a larger main jet. (I also bought a jet kit for these carburetors). I went from an out of the box 160 main jet size to a 165. This bike is now up to par. Very happy and at $45 - cheaper than all the injectors and needle valves I bought when trying to bleed a worn PWK stock. Now; Regarding the 1984 KDX200: I bought the bike as a non-undercarriage bike. It came with two carburetors: a (worn out) 38mm Keihin PWK and a new 32mm Mikuni. None of them fit the commutator wheel that was on the bike. I ordered a new header from eBay and didn't want to try the standard 32mm Mikuni size without knowing if the previous owner screwed up. After the success I had with the 1991 KDX200 I put this KIPA Air Strike 35mm carb on a new header and lo and behold the bike caught fire. wow again! Later, after the bike was ready to ride, a few rides proved that this carburettor was almost worth the money! So the proof is in the pudding, as they say: This carburetor worked on both liquid-cooled and valve-cooled 1991 KIPS-Power KDX 200 and air-cooled 1984 KDX-200 without a power valve. Both had minor injector changes from original delivery, but on delivery both bikes started straight away and were not leaking.
