I bought it for summer travel but I tried it after drying the car carpet after shampooing. I let it hang in the air for 2 hours and the carpet was completely dry and the fan ran down one charge level. He recharged quickly. Will be updated after use on our hikes. **Update** I'm so glad we had a fan for our hikes. We were camping so it came in handy when it was raining and we had to close the windows. It has 3 speeds and holds a charge very well. I never left it running all night because it got cold at night and wasn't needed. I only charged it once and used the battery first for fear of death! The downside is that there is a bright green light glowing inside the fan. This is a light that shows where the power button is to show how much power is left. AGGRAVATING! I will either see if there is another fan without such a light because the car camping part is not visible and that will give us away! It was also difficult to figure out how to hang it on the car handles in the car. Found a good place but not very good for my husband. We're going to get him another fan! I want to see if this fan fits in our big tent. Then I'll give you another update.
