When I bought my IH184 I knew that these old engines are always naughty when starting and usually very cold-blooded. This tractor was no different. It was difficult to start - you always had to fiddle with it to get it working. Then the day came when it wouldn't start at all and I thought I'd fiddle with the points and decided to switch to the Pertronix electronic ignition (I followed their recommendation and bought a flamethrower coil). Firstly, although I am an experienced mechanic, anyone with even basic mechanical skills will find this kit extremely easy to install. Most importantly, as soon as I installed it and tried to start it, it started immediately after turning the key! Every time it starts right away it seems to run smoother and have more power than before! I highly recommend this item!
