Linux "support " isn't real

I'm sure somewhere in a lab, under ideal, tightly controlled conditions, with a very, very specific Linux distribution tied to very specific versions that goes to their " support" it worked on linux. The problem is that claiming that "runs on Linux" requires a lot more. I'm a former Linux kernel engineer. If I gave up trying to get all workarounds to work with the current version of Ubuntu (21.04), I wouldn't advise anyone to even try this. It was a waste of time. It's not that I can't get it to work, but it's not worth the effort, not to mention the fragile and flimsy support it would lead to. Drivers, while technically available, are vulnerable, poorly documented, and poorly supported. There are better, more widely supported, robustly implemented solutions out there for the same price. Stay away if you're a Linux user and don't like brittle, masochistic solutions to make things work.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Hard to tell
