The packaging could have used some foam to keep it from cracking, but overall everything is fine. As previously mentioned, "shards" will fly out of the tree, but that's because it's real bamboo. I took some sandpaper and smoothed it out and then used olive oil on the board because I didn't have mineral oil. Wood takes oil well and will smooth out some splinters. In general there are no complaints. The shards aren't a problem for me because that means they're natural without the weird blotchy/blotchy finish. You use it enough and smear it enough and they will go away. Also, don't worry about splitting or tearing. My house isn't dry enough to dry out and I don't have tap dancing classes there. Great board so far, decently heavy.
