I recently used Nikwax on my 5 year old snowmobile gloves. They are very warm but have no Gore-Tex or Hipora lining. The impregnation comes from the outer shell, which wears out significantly. My results were very good, but the instructions on the back of Nikwax are missing an important step. First you need to wet your gloves by holding them under the tap. All of the fabric should be damp. My gloves were soaked with water. Once the gloves are completely damp, begin applying Nikwax. Be generous! Apply it all over, especially on each seam and penetrate between fingers if wearing gloves. I probably used a quarter bottle for a pair of mittens. After drying overnight, I submerged them under the water again and they immediately beaded up. They couldn't even get the cloth wet. I noticed a spot on the cuff where the water wasn't beading, so I tinted it with a little more Nikwax and let it dry. Very simple and effective. Just remember to dampen your gloves until damp before applying Nikwax and be overly generous with the product. Apply it broadly! If you found my review helpful, please click this button.
