I recently purchased a survey tripod for use with astrophotography gear; However, the mounting screw on the tripod uses a 5/8 inch screw. My equatorial wedge requires a 3/8" or 1/4" tripod screw, so I needed something to attach the wedge to the tripod. and that was it. The only problem I had was that after installing this adapter, the set screws that were supposed to interfere with the platter were not tightened enough to stop it from spinning. I used an M3 x 3/4 hex head" to replace the three original screws and they did the job Aside from that minor issue, the base/adapter does what I need.
