There are 3 steps - one on each front door and one on the side doors. It took several hours to set everything up and drill holes in the van and running boards. I didn't use any additional spacers - not compatible with the van - but there were no performance issues. Replaced the step when I broke it, hit a 70mph fox on the freeway, or hit rocks or tree roots on rough terrain (I've taken Boy Scouts to various locations with not-so-good roads). Reinstalling is no problem if I fasten the top hole and then drill the bottom hole needed in the bracket. I sold a 2003 and got a 2013 Ford E350 van and installed the new steps - it took less than 2 hours since I was familiar with the procedure. Pick up the perk if I break one of them again while carrying the Boy Scouts.
