Not bad, but timing could be better

-System CPU: i7 7700K @ 5.1GHz Mobo: Asus Maximus IX Hero Z270RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 4266 @ 4000MHz ; 19, 19, 19, 39 I've been running my system with the above stable overclock since 2017. With these Lexar sticks I had to increase the timings to 20, 21, 21, 21, 42 to get them stable at 4000MHz. at the same voltages. Of course, the Trident Z was more expensive, but five years have passed. I'm glad they made it to 4000MHz but at the same time I'm disappointed that I had to loosen the timings. I'm not sure I'll leave them here for now as I don't need more RAM at the moment. CPU-Z claims the chips are Samsung like my Trident Z, but the ones in the Lexar are inferior. The heat spreader is ok. It's thinner (due to the thinner/less metal used) and significantly lighter than my Trident Z, as well as larger, which can be an issue for people with huge CPU heatsinks. I use a Noctua NH-D15 and it barely erases the floor - keep that in mind. Without the RGB strip on the top, it would be shorter than the Trident Z and even lighter - a sign that they really skimped on the amount of metal they used. I mean the whole build feels almost plasticky compared to the Trident Z. It's hard to recommend this RAM when you can get the exact same RAM from Corsair (Vengeance RGB Pro) for $60. I've noticed that many brands use the same chips with the same speed/timing and voltage as these sticks, and many of them are significantly cheaper. For the same price (and even cheaper) you can find sticks with DDR 4000 memory or something between 3600 and 4000 with shorter timings, making it harder to sell. with relaxed time) I recommend you to shop around before you choose as I think you can get more bang for your buck.

Pros

Cons
  • Not bad, but...
