Works with cotton blends and 100% Kevlar

I dyed my white 98% cotton, 2% spandex jacket a beautiful chocolate brown. I followed the directions carefully and was provided with a 8 liter pot, candy thermometer and good quality metal tongs. Don't underestimate this last point, as it involves lifting and turning your clothes in 75-90 F water for 40 minutes. They worked great for me http://www.amazon.com/Good-Cook-9-inch-Angled-Tongs/dp/B000BQKDD2/. The threads are dyed a much lighter shade of brown, almost sandy, and they really like the look. It's supposed to rub off about a pound of fabric, but then I threw in an old motorcycle shirt, bleached to a light gray 100% Kevlar, into a supposedly emptied tub and got a nice taupe-bronze color, dark enough to hide some oil stains, definitely not thinking brown. . I washed both clothes for 40 minutes. in a solution of 1/4 vinegar 3/4 water to fix the dye. Then I gave them 40 minutes. more in a salt-saturated bath to remove excess dye. Cotton released a lot of dye in these baths, Kevlar almost none. Very labor intensive, but definitely worth it. I wish the other Dye More colors were as dark as this one. I think other people paint really weird materials. in a solution of 1/4 vinegar 3/4 water to fix the dye. Then I gave them 40 minutes. more in a salt-saturated bath to remove excess dye.
