Update August 14: Dead WiFi. So here is the short version. It was on and working and then the wifi didn't work. Disable and restart. Have been working with it for a good 2 hours and can connect via ethernet cable and the device is responsive (including firmware update with no problems) but the end result is still no wifi. He was able to find the signal I wanted to repeat, but no more. Conclusion I broke something. Needless to say, the drive was getting annoying in terms of wifi and we've already taken a different route. July 21 update. It's had a few more rides and it continues to work well. Last weekend caused some laughs. When we paid for our stay, another guest complained that they couldn't get a wifi signal because someone else was in the way, and had many theories as to why this "really is". For me it was the same. The signal changed from 86% repeat strength to 0% because there was a line of sight loss at our distance. except I just got the device about 20 feet away which had the best line of sight and went from no signal to 100% repeatability. I have a few more mounting options to add, but for now. this is exactly what i was looking for. All in all it works great. A few caveats. But this is what I was looking for. The device is very simple - plug it in. Log in. Run the wizard. Ready. Almost finished. So that's the simple answer. Now for the caveats. I use this to catch a WiFi signal and repeat it. That's why it's designed for that. The problem is that every time I go somewhere else you have to run the wizard. -enter. However, sometimes you need to scan 3-5 times to find the WiFi signal you are looking for when there are many of them around. This gives a huge plus that offsets that it creates a private LAN. The advantage is that I can connect my devices and no one else sees what I have connected. I wish it had more security protocols and you could scan and enter a new wifi signal password without running the wizard. This is my first weekend with him. I am happy. It mounts easily and now all I have to do is provide stronger wiring. At the moment I've been streaming with ROKU non-stop for 4 hours and I also have two phones connected.
