I turned it on when I encountered something (flies, mosquitoes, mosquitoes). I've never heard of it destroying anything, yet I've seen vermin fly. An even bigger problem is that I suspect it is having a negative effect on my cat. When I first got it, I always left it on. Immediately afterwards, my cat became very ill. At first I didn't connect the two, but I turned it off and (after huge bills from the vet) my cat recovered very quickly. I've tried using it for short periods here and there, but every time I did my cat couldn't hold on to the food. The time of each of them is beyond chance in my opinion. Unfortunately, I'm already outside the return window, so I guess I'll have to take that as a lesson.
