My mailbox lock was broken and the door was wide open, but the postman still delivered the mail. Last time we lost the key and I paid the locksmith $100 to get it out. He just changed the lock and gave us new keys. This time I decided to see if I could do it myself. Oh my god, yes you can! You will need a screwdriver and pliers. The longest part was inserting the lock backwards and not being able to fully engage the lock to close the door. Once I figured it out after trying each bar, everything was easy. You'll have to hammer a little on the clip that attaches it to the inside of the door. Just watch how your old lock comes out and keep the old latch in case the new ones don't fit. The lock looks the same as the old one so I hope it will last as long.
