This is not a medal cutting blade. It took almost 1 inch in a 1/8 inch 1080 steel bar. Yes, it was an inch. This was done at the lowest possible speed to keep heat to a minimum and immersed in a light cutting oil. May be suitable for cold rolled mild steel but is not recommended for good quality steel. The second blade was used to slice a section of black walnut into 1/4 inch thick slices. First the wood was a 12 inch diameter log that was split in half and then cut into slabs. In the middle of the first half, the blade began to dull and could not maintain thickness even when tightened as hard as possible. Softwood should be fine, but not recommended for hardwood.
