Doesn't live up to the hype - send it back

I'm a sport touring rider with 35 years of experience and also an experienced software developer. But enough about me, let's talk about the TomTom Rider 550. Summary: Very disappointed and sent back. I have many years of experience testing and evaluating the software I used to evaluate this GPS. I wrote down a few simple use cases (features) to evaluate, which I prioritized and rated, e.g. Here are some use cases where this has failed. cancel route. I could never figure out how to cancel a route after starting it. Next thing I could come up with was setting up a new route to replace the old one. You see, when I'm 100 miles from home I don't need a route guide anymore and would rather just have an overview map. I googled how to reverse a route but the screenshots/explanation didn't match my UI. It should be possible to cancel the route. But if I have to spend 15 minutes on the side of the road to find out, it's an F, even an F change route. Sometimes I like to change my route to take a country road, visit an attraction, or whatever. I couldn't find out if this is possible. Integration with Google Maps. I have a huge list of routes stored in Google Maps and I wanted to transfer them to MyDrive and eventually use them as a list of available routes in my TomTom Rider 550. Presumably it's possible, but I've never gotten it to work. I was able to cut various waypoints and coordinates from Google Maps and paste them into MyDrive. This is on my laptop. I wouldn't even try to do this with the MyDrive Android app, which is a disaster in and of itself. After failing these three fairly simple tests, I stopped evaluating it and sent it back. To me, that's a bloated piece of shit.

Cons
  • Crumpled
