I was able to remove the wedge set from the left side. I couldn't open it from the right side because it wouldn't stay in when I used force. Reading online people recommended I get a Pedro Spline BB tool to hold it in place or use a 1mm x 50" M8 bolt. In this sense, it is not a tool error. I think it's basic physics. My suggestion is based on experience as I need to open up the bottom bracket assemblies and try again: I would recommend anyone ordering this tool to remove the bottom bracket also an M8 1mm x 50mm bolt and a washer or two or something Something similar to take for your bike (this is the information I found on the internet) in the nearest hardware store when ordering this tool. You'll save yourself a trip to the store, and with an extra washing machine you can probably get the job done in one go. Otherwise, if you don't want to go the bolt route, I'd suggest that you get this other tool as an alternative.
